TryPSL sits squarely inside the looksmaxxing subculture: you upload a photo and it returns a PSL score plus a breakdown of facial symmetry and proportions, framed in the tier vocabulary that community already uses. Two things make it more defensible than most of its neighbours. The free test needs no signup, and the free tier processes locally rather than shipping your portrait to a server — for a tool whose only input is your face, that is the difference between a curiosity and a privacy problem. The proportion breakdown is also more useful than the headline number, since measurements at least point at something observable rather than a verdict. The caveats are the whole story here, and they are worth stating plainly. A PSL score is a community convention, not a measurement of anything objective — attractiveness ratings are cultural, and any single number invites people to treat taste as a fact. Results also move with lighting, camera angle and expression, so the same face photographed twice will score differently. And the surrounding community can be genuinely unhealthy to sit inside for long. Read it as a proportions readout and a bit of fun; do not read it as feedback on your worth.
