HiAPI is an aggregation layer for generative models aimed at developers who do not want to maintain a separate integration, auth scheme and billing relationship for every image, video and audio provider they ship against. One API key and one request format reach the underlying models, with routing handled server-side, so swapping a video model or adding an audio step is a parameter change rather than a rewrite. For teams building production generation workflows — a thumbnail pipeline, a voiceover step, batch image jobs behind a product feature — that consolidation is the whole point: it collapses vendor management and makes it cheap to test whether a newer model actually improves output before committing to it. Pricing is published per call rather than negotiated, and the documentation covers the task-based endpoints that long-running video and audio jobs need, which is where thinner aggregators tend to fall short. The trade-offs are the usual ones for a middle layer: you inherit an extra hop and an extra point of failure between your app and the model provider, cutting-edge model releases may land here later than on the provider's own API, and provider-specific parameters are sometimes abstracted away in the name of a uniform interface.
