BibGenie
BibGenie is an AI research plugin for Zotero 7 or later on macOS, Windows and Linux. It works in Zotero’s sidebar and can use the active paper or current page as context. Users add items, notes, tags, collections, annotations and selected passages to a conversation, then follow citations in AI answers back to their sources. The plugin includes keyword and semantic library search and uses OpenAlex to discover research beyond the local collection. The core plugin is free and advertises local-first indexing. Zotero installation is required, and AI summaries or answers should be checked against the cited passages rather than treated as a substitute for reading the original research.
